Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions explain how I work, what you can expect from me, and what I ask from you in return. Please read them carefully before booking. By booking a consultation or session, you agree to these terms.

1. Site Usage

  • You may not copy or download any part of this website without my permission.

  • I reserve the right to withdraw access to my membership area at any time.

  • As the owner of the intellectual property, I may make changes to this website and these Terms and Conditions at any time.

2. Bookings & Cancellations

General Bookings

  • Appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.

  • You can book up to 1 month ahead through the website.

  • Payment for sessions is required in advance at the time of booking (except the free consultation).

  • It is your responsibility to contact me if there are any issues with the booking system.

Cancellations (Paid Sessions)

  • You may cancel or reschedule your session with at least 24 hours’ notice via the website or by emailing me at helen@helentravis.com.

  • Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or no-shows, are non-refundable.

  • If I need to cancel for any reason, I will provide as much notice as possible and you may either receive a full refund or rebook at a convenient time.

Free Consultation Policy

  • Each new client may request one free 30-minute consultation.

  • I reserve the right to decline a consultation if it does not seem appropriate or aligned.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, please email me at helen@helentravis.com with at least 24 hours’ notice.

  • Cancellations or no-shows with less than 24 hours’ notice cannot be rebooked as a free session. You are welcome to arrange a full paid session instead.

  • If I need to cancel for any reason, I will give you as much notice as possible, and you may rebook your consultation at a convenient time.

Technical Issues

  • Both of us agree to test our technology before the appointment.

  • If an unforeseen technical issue occurs, the appointment will be rescheduled.

3. Session Guidelines

  • Sessions start and end at the scheduled time. If you are not present within 10 minutes, the session will be considered a no-show and no refund will be given.

  • If I do not attend within 10 minutes, a full refund will be made.

  • Please prepare your space to support privacy and confidentiality. If the environment is not suitable, I may end the session to protect your wellbeing and confidentiality. In this situation, no refund will be made.

  • Sessions are to be drug- and alcohol-free. If prescribed medication affects your presence in sessions, please disclose this.

  • My therapy dog is present in my office. Please let me know in advance if this is an issue and I will make alternative arrangements.

  • Sessions will usually be weekly at the start of therapy to support continuity and relationship building, though frequency can be adjusted.

  • Either of us may end the therapeutic contract at any time.

  • In the case of a no-show, I will not follow up. This gives you autonomy to decide whether you wish to continue. You are always welcome to return at a later time.

4. Contact Between Sessions

  • The best way to reach me is by email: helen@helentravis.com.

  • I may not reply immediately, as I am often in session, but I will respond as soon as I can.

  • Therapy is only provided within booked sessions. I cannot provide therapeutic support by email, phone, or text outside our appointment times. Please see the resources page for crisis numbers and self-help tools you can use between sessions.

5. Ethics & Confidentiality

  • I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their ethical framework, which you can read at www.bacp.co.uk.

  • I receive regular supervision and may discuss our work with my supervisor. Your identity will not be revealed, and my supervisor is also bound by the BACP ethical framework.

  • Everything we discuss in sessions is kept confidential, with these exceptions:

  • If I believe you or someone else is at risk of serious harm

  • If you disclose acts of terrorism (Terrorism Act)

  • If you disclose matters relating to the Children’s Act

  • If required by law or a court order

  • In such cases, confidentiality will be broken and passed on to the appropriate authorities.

6. Notes & Data Protection

  • I may make brief notes to support our work together. These are kept securely and cannot identify you.

  • You may request to see your notes at any time.

  • All notes are managed in line with Data Protection regulations.

7. Liability & Waiver

  • My services are not a substitute for medical care. I do not diagnose or treat medical conditions.

  • You are responsible for your wellbeing and decisions during and after therapy.

  • Any reflections or suggestions I offer are intended to support your goals and wellbeing.

  • Technology can sometimes fail. By using online services, you accept the risks of digital communication.

  • By booking, you release me from liability for outcomes beyond what is reasonably expected within a therapeutic relationship.

  • Services are provided in line with the laws of France and any disputes will be subject to this jurisdiction.

  • I reserve the right to refuse access to services at my discretion.
