Technical Issues

3. Session Guidelines
-
Sessions start and end at the scheduled time. If you are not present within 10 minutes, the session will be considered a no-show and no refund will be given.
-
If I do not attend within 10 minutes, a full refund will be made.
-
Please prepare your space to support privacy and confidentiality. If the environment is not suitable, I may end the session to protect your wellbeing and confidentiality. In this situation, no refund will be made.
-
Sessions are to be drug- and alcohol-free. If prescribed medication affects your presence in sessions, please disclose this.
-
My therapy dog is present in my office. Please let me know in advance if this is an issue and I will make alternative arrangements.
-
Sessions will usually be weekly at the start of therapy to support continuity and relationship building, though frequency can be adjusted.
-
Either of us may end the therapeutic contract at any time.
-
In the case of a no-show, I will not follow up. This gives you autonomy to decide whether you wish to continue. You are always welcome to return at a later time.
4. Contact Between Sessions
-
The best way to reach me is by email: helen@helentravis.com.
-
I may not reply immediately, as I am often in session, but I will respond as soon as I can.
-
Therapy is only provided within booked sessions. I cannot provide therapeutic support by email, phone, or text outside our appointment times. Please see the resources page for crisis numbers and self-help tools you can use between sessions.
5. Ethics & Confidentiality
-
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their ethical framework, which you can read at www.bacp.co.uk.
-
I receive regular supervision and may discuss our work with my supervisor. Your identity will not be revealed, and my supervisor is also bound by the BACP ethical framework.

If I believe you or someone else is at risk of serious harm
-
If you disclose acts of terrorism (Terrorism Act)
-
If you disclose matters relating to the Children’s Act
-
If required by law or a court order
-
In such cases, confidentiality will be broken and passed on to the appropriate authorities.
6. Notes & Data Protection

I may make brief notes to support our work together. These are kept securely and cannot identify you.
-
You may request to see your notes at any time.
-
All notes are managed in line with Data Protection regulations.
